The  Crankshaft

The crank shaft has not yet been balanced. I have a description of the original procedure to follow. Weight is reduced by removing material from under the counterweight extensions or increased by milling out steel and replacing it with lead.
A billet of high tensile steel was centred on the rotary table and roughed out mainly between centres on the dividing head. A myford back plate was fitted and a centred stub left beside the crank pin. The rear portion of the crank shaft was made in the same way but was somewhat simpler having no crank pin.
